FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions we hear most often.
Buying
How do I start looking for a property to buy?
Browse our listings or send us an enquiry with your preferred location, property type, budget and timeline. We will share suitable options and arrange viewings.
What checks should I make before buying land or a house in Kenya?
Common steps include an official title search at the relevant land registry, confirming the seller's identity and ownership, checking for outstanding land rates or charges, and confirming approvals for the property. We strongly recommend working with an advocate (lawyer) for due diligence and the sale agreement.
Can you help with mortgage financing?
We can point you towards lenders and explain the general process, but financing decisions and terms are made by the bank or lender. Please speak to your lender for advice specific to you.
What extra costs should I budget for when buying?
Typical additional costs include stamp duty, legal fees, valuation fees and registration costs. Amounts vary by property and location, so ask your advocate for an estimate before you commit.
Renting
What do I need to rent a property?
Landlords usually ask for a copy of your ID or passport, contact details, and a deposit plus the first month's rent. Some may also ask for proof of income or references.
Are the listed rents negotiable?
Sometimes. Rent is set by the landlord, but we are happy to pass on reasonable offers and help both sides agree terms.
Can I view a rental property before paying anything?
Yes. You should always view a property, in person or by video, and read the tenancy agreement before paying any deposit or rent.
